Recent weeks have shown me just how much things can change quickly. From moves across the globe to changes in fortune and circumstance, it seems that for many people close to me, recent events have served up a decidedly different state of affairs. From flights to fights to crashes and funerals, these events, while unconnected, seem to collectively reinforce the fragile, ephemeral nature of the current state of play.

Is time precious? Is life short? Where does one differentiate between an experience endured and an experience enjoyed? Does knowing one will look back on a set of circumstances positively in future, make any difference to our ability to endure it in the present?

Wherever you happen to be on the seemingly circuitous trail that loops us all between enduring, persevering, prospering and panicking at this particular moment, godspeed, and may good spirits, good music and good companions help light the way.

  1. I don’t know you but I listen to your mixes all the time. I found them on spotify, though they don’t seem to be there anymore.

I’ve enjoyed a lot of them, but particularly love this one. At the very end when “In my last life” by Andrew Bayer comes on, that is a moment I wish I could live in forever.

Thanks for putting them together and sharing them.

    1. Thanks Nina, great to hear you are enjoying my mixes. They are not on Spotify any more, for some reason a few months ago Spotify started to block all mixed music podcasts. They’re on iTunes (so any podcast player app), Mixcloud, and can be streamed or downloaded here.

“In My Last Life” is such a beautiful tune. I try not to play anything unless the lyrics resonate with me personally, as this one most certainly does. Alison May’s voice reminds me of Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins (and Massive Attack).
